Since the site was launched on 15th February this year some news items have been more obvious they would be read than others. Some came out of nowhere!
Some have been growing slowly since they were posted – for example the article on the Go Vapour shop opening has now been seen over 1,000 times since it’s launch in August when it had around 350 views.
So, in reverse order, here are the 10 most viewed articles on the site since we launched:
10th = Power Cut Hits Andover and Surrounding Area (2,708 views)
Published 3rd September, this was about the midday power cut that hit Andover and the surrounding villages. And caused by a pigeon!
9th = Smannell Road Flasher Image Released (2,780 views)
Published 20th May, this was about the flasher near Tesco on River Way.
8th = Former Approach Garage to be Wine Store and Drive Thru (2,822 views)
Published 9th December, this was about the initial news that the former BP garage might be turned into a drive through and retail units.
7th = Abnormal Load on A303 Near Andover Tomorrow (3,457 views)
Published 3rd December, this was about the two large trucks being transported down the A303.
6th = Tesco River Way ATM Users Urged to Check Their Account (4,137 views)
Published 12th June, this was one of several occasions when the cash-point machine at Tesco River Way had an issue.
5th = Town Centre Area Cordoned Off (4,280 views)
Published 16th July, this was about the man throwing tiles off the White Hart Hotel roof.
4th = Concern Over White Markings on Houses (4,573 views)
Published 14th August, this was about the odd white marks that started appearing on or near people’s houses.
3rd = Two Suspicious Incidents in Andover (5,515 views)
Published 8th April, this was about odd happenings in Highlands Road and Heron’s Rise.
2nd = Police Release Distraction Scam CCTV (6,058 views)
Published 3rd September, this was CCTV footage of a supermarket distraction scam to highlight the crime to shoppers.
1st = Police Hunting Andover Thief (9,223 views)
Published 21st February, this was about a man Police wanted to speak to following three robberies in Andover.
The statistics are via Google Analytics and are genuine page views – not hits.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone that has read, commented, messaged, contributed, nagged, tipped me off and generally helped with the site in 2013. Here’s to making it more relevant and helpful to you in 2014.
I realise we’ve had our differences and remain concerned that this site could still be used for political gain or a party in the past has in my opinion been given undue coverage and praise in relation to its achievements.
That said, in recent months any perceived political bias on my part has been eroded and the site is now all the more enjoyable & informative as a result. Your Twitter account is usually my first search the day.
Andover & NW Hants has a lot going for it & not many places I would rather be. Therefore, I really care about the town and its surroundings and proud to call it home. Its far from perfect though and I get a real sense your work extends influence and more beyond the valuable service you provide through the website. Keep it up and leave the political show ponying to the letters page of the increasingly politicised Andover Advertiser. I would happily ditch it in favour of paying you a weekly subscription of 75p.
