The William Hill Betting Shop at The Broadway on Bridge Street in Andover is to close tomorrow (Tuesday 29th July) leaving just their High Street shop open in the town.
With the other shops in the area, William Hill have said that there will be no job loses.
A spokesperson said: “In April, we announced plans to close 109 shops as a direct result of the Government’s decision to raise the rate of machine games duty.”
“We can confirm that the Andover shop is one of the initial 82 with a further 27 shops currently under review. In all shops that are closing, we are making every effort to redeploy staff where possible.“
Is it not about time that the Broadway was demolished and redeveloped. This is looking like a really sleazy run down part of town now. Redevelop the area in to flats, with s small number of retail units on the ground floor.
