Household name and budget hotel group Travelodge are making good progress with plans for their first hotel in Andover.
In a recent email Steve Tyler, regional development manager for Travelodge, advised that they have identified a suitable site in the town, and that he is confident of agreeing terms following negotiations with the owners.
At this point in time it is a guessing game as to where they might locate. However, in recent years Travelodge have realigned their business strategy to focus on the development of town/city centre hotels so this could well be a clue…..
The former magistrates court building in the town is well located, and is easily accessible from Western Avenue, but it is important to stress that this site has not been confirmed or even suggested by the any of the parties involved.
With the relatively new addition of a Premier Inn to the town and the extensive refurbishment of the now Star and Garter hotel; the opening of a Travelodge would be a further boost to the towns growing hotel business, and would be very beneficial in developing the town’s reputation as a business destination.
Travelodge will be able to provide a further update in 3 months.
