Refurbishment Plans for Charlton Lakes Play Area

August 6, 2014 by Andover Town

A scheme has been developed to enhance and refurbish the existing play area at Charlton Lakes.

The scheme follows a consultation earlier this year with local residents and users of the play area, and the outputs from the consultation have helped to inform the type of play equipment that will be installed.

Play time is set to become even more fun with the introduction of interactive sand and water play, a wooden multi-play unit including climbing bars, ropes and a treehouse, and a dedicated zone for older children with enhanced swing facilities and a basket swing.

Councillor Tony Ward, Community and Leisure Portfolio Holder, said: “Charlton Lakes is a popular and well used local recreation area, and the play park is a valuable resource.  I am delighted that the public gave such positive feedback during the consultation process, and that the Council have been able to use this to influence the design.”

“To ensure that use of this popular play facility isn’t disrupted throughout the summer holidays, the refurbishment work is planned to commence on the 1 September and is scheduled to be complete in time for the autumn half term break.”

agreed the roundabout was one of the few play items my 3yo could actually get on. the equipment in the park at the mo is no good for small kids, even my 5yo had trouble using some of it due to large climbing gaps. the zip wire is so dangerous if a child lost grip at the end they would hit a large metal post. what happened to expanding kids minds and imagination promoting play equipment?

about time. the current play equipment is not suitable for small children, I have so many issues with the park as it is any changes can only improve it, not sure what the water pump will achieve though
