Charlton Parish Council has called an Extraordinary Meeting on Tuesday 4th February at 8.00pm in the Church Hall to consider the planning application for the Proposed Goch Way Estate.
The public will have the opportunity to speak and let the Parish Council know their views. After the meeting it is planned that instruction and demonstrations on how to send comments to Test Valley Borough Council will be given.
The proposal is for 85 residential dwellings (including up to 40% affordable housing), structural planting and landscaping, informal open space, children’s play areas, surface water attenuation, vehicular access from Goch Way and associated ancillary works.
The plans show it as effectively “filling in” the area between the rear of Armstrong Rise in Charlton and Saxon Way.

Charlton used to be a village on the edge of Andover. This step would join it up!! Don’t! ! Plus the power pilons run right across this feild what is going to be done about them as years ago it was proven building by them means those living there are more likely to get cancer!!!
There is more than ample new housing provision in the Andover area now, with large new estates in Picket Piece and Smannel. Additionally, this area is entirely unsuitable for housing development as another reader has so rightly commented –
there are indeed very large power pilons that run right through the centre of this area and beyond which renders this land only suitable for occasional livestock grazing!
Lizzie, what do you base your assertion on that there is “ample new housing provision in the Andover area now?” I think you will find that the area is screaming for more affordable housing stock, and there is also under-supplied demand for market housing. Sales of new properties in the town’s existing MDA’s of East Anton and Picket Twenty have been very strong indeed! The pylons do not render the site unsuitable for development, they are merely a factor that must be mitigated against, which can be achieved through clever architecture.
Planning application ? That will be yes then. TVBCs record in developments like this is appalling. Their planning committee is a complete waste of time. The problem that they will not face is that the town is full and the county is full. The infrastructure will not take any more. It is time to change the regime at Beechurst. Councillor CRr and his councillor Carr must be swept aside
