Popular Charlton Lakes Play Park has Re-opened

November 26, 2014 by Andover Town

The popular Charlton Lakes play area has recently re-opened following a major refurbishment.

The area now boasts interactive sand and water play, a wooden multi-play unit including climbing bars, ropes and a treehouse, and a dedicated zone for older children with enhanced swing facilities and a basket swing. The play park has been re-landscaped to complement the new equipment, and all weather play surfaces have been laid to encourage use of the park throughout the whole year.

Councillor Tony Ward, Community and Leisure Portfolio Holder, said: “The completed play park looks fantastic. It is designed to appeal to a range of ages from toddlers through to older children and is a brilliant resource for the residents of Charlton and the wider area.”

Some minor landscape reinstatement and painting work is still to be carried out dependent on weather conditions, but the park is now open for fun!

The scheme follows a consultation earlier this year with local residents and users of the play area, and the outputs from the consultation helped to inform the type of play equipment that has been installed.

    Sand, great just what us busy mums need when we go down there in damp, wet conditions! There is so much better safe flooring available on the market!

    Brilliant equipment and overall lovely environment. Slightly disappointed that there is less than the old playground for young toddlers (the baby equipment is very high!) and it’s a shame that the water pump in the sandpit doesn’t work. Definitely a significant improvement though – thank you!

    My little boy is 1, used to love the swing in the old playpark, can’t even use the swings for him in this one! Someone needs a rethink!

    Sand = bad.

    Big rocks for the kids to crack their heads open.

    Doesn’t seem to be enough seating to me either!
