Several weeks into the new £3.5m Andover Bus Station and there seems very little progress with currently just a wooden fence erected and car park fire escape re-directed.
Contractors Osborne have posted a Newsletter dated 3rd June on the fence giving details of the plans for work during June. These include:
- Taking delivery of their site cabin offices
- Erecting a hoarding to enclose the old “Shop Mobility”
- Starting demolition of the old “Shop Mobility”
- Erecting a protective scaffold to the Chantry Centre entrance and walkway
- Starting demolition of the current Chantry and Bus Shelter canopies
The scaffolding is planned to go up during the night of Monday 17th June to minimise disruption to the Chantry Centre however demolition work is planned between 8:00am and 6:00pm so as to minimise noise to nearby residents.

Fantastic progres well done keep it up. Must get my picture taken along side it pointing
I’m sure it can be arranged 😀
Couldnt believe how much work they have achieved in such a little time.
This is IRONY of course.
Or sarcasm.
Not funny if you are standing waiting for a bus in the rain, as the promised shelters still haven’t materialised
For me any many other disabled people it is a real pain to have to go up to 3rd floor to get parked and get you wheel chair or scooter out of the back, with cars whizzing by then travel with heart in mouth to the life area, with heaped up shopping trollieys ,, baby buggies etc etc and then reversing in and out . I am grateful that I do have a car and feel sorry for everyone else that are are being inconvenienced . Another year of disruption, must be effecting the Mobility shop, , I have not shopped Waitrose for weeks now using M and S. and Tesco.
So who is getting paid for doing nothing? Name and shame please. Once we were told this decision was irreversible I started hoping they’d do Andover proud an at least get the job done well. If they can’t do that then they’re the wrong people for the job! Which is the last thing Andover needs.
Absolutely atrocious. If this was the private sector heads would have rolled by now. I wonder how much of the contingency has been eaten into and how much this project will overrun by?
