The controversial gaming centre that has taken over the old Shaw Trust shop looks set to open in the near future as the inside is finally being made ready.
The front window has been prepared ready to house a display and inside gaming machines are being installed. We do not have an official date for open as yet though.
We reported on the original planning permission request back in March 2013 (“Adult Gaming Centre Coming to Town?“) and then again in April 2013 when planning permission for change of use was given approval (“Andover High Street Gaming Centre Given Approval“) on a tight 9 to 8 vote.

I have heard and read loads of reports since this was first muted..most local authorities have realized what a bad idea this is bringing them on to family high street shopping areas, like betting shops were not allowed, until recently in town shopping sites…now look at them like !!! like charity shops phone shops etc. Many councils are now trying to stop this. So many people addicted to the gaming machines bringing despair and breakdown in relationships and ruining peoples lives. addiction becomes an illness that is very hard to heal as is drugs and alcohol, and comfort eating, a step backwards in our society. There is help out for for people with these addictions but very hard to find and long waiting lists.
