Andover’s Firemen were called into action earlier today when a pigeon was reported as being trapped in the netting above Barclay Bank in the High Street in Andover.
Due to the height, the fire brigade had to use their ladder to free the trapped bird however after a successful rescue, the pigeon was handed over to the RSPCA.
Pictures of the rescue thanks to Debby Beatson
Sorry but its a pigeon!! Is that really effective use of time and money?
The net did its job and stopped of the blighters breeding as if we don’t have enough of the vermin in our town center…should of called Rentoklil not the Fire Brigade!!!
agreed , air pistol, poison or just don’t bother what a waste of fire fighters
It’s still a living creature fair play to the fireman
yes that is true but how many lives could have been lost in rta etc while our top servive ppl are wasted due to a bird
what a waste of public services. id rather pay them to drink tea than the money wasted (air pistol, sorted)
Nice spectacle though.
And notice we’re not blaming the fireman (thank goodness). They remain a symbol of “rescue” (hence why they were called to rescue a pigeon) besides, who else has a huge ladder!?
Lets just put it down to a training exercise.
