After a £1 million refurbishment lasting almost a year, the Star and Garter Hotel (formerly the Danebury) is to open again on 13th January 2014.
Citylodge – the new owners – will be recruiting up to 30 staff over the next month and will also be announcing the hotel’s manager shortly.
Mark Bowley from Citylodge said: “The building is 2star listed so we had to get various permissions for works including demolition of nightclub . The listed building and planning department at TVBC were extremely helpful and we were able to build a modern hotel in a Fabulous Historic building.”
Room prices will vary according to demand and season but are expected to start at £49.95 whilst dining wise there will also be a carvery seating 120 people for £5.99 Monday to Saturday and at £8.99 on Sundays.

This is totally amazing…..I had my wedding night in here nearly 25 years ago in the bridal suite….think as a 25 year treat ,see if I can come home and stay again….It looks so beautiful….well done…xx
I am glad it’s going back to its original name – used to have a lot of happy Saturday Nights then
How would i go about getting a job there? Lovely renovation!
How do you apply for the jobs? X
Hi Jenna and Shaunna Just waiting to hear back from CityLodge and we’ll be posting details.
Always was the Star and Garter!! Must admit itself looking good ^_^.
I was walking down Bridge Street yesterday and must admit noticing the building properly since the renovation started. It looks like a really good job has been done on it and such an improvement which can only help the town centre in general
Would be interested in any job vacancies – cleaners, etc. Thanks!
