That was a close result!
Expected a Tory win, but well done UKIP on an outstanding performance.
Roll on the General elections
If this follows through into Borough Council votes that will change the face of Test Valley in 2015.
The Tories have actually taken a beating in Test Valley. They deserved the message that has come out of the ballot boxes. It shows the deep dissatisfaction voters feel for them & it is no good them saying it was a protest vote.
The local elections next year will be interesting to say the least. Arrogance and being dismissive of the electorate’s view will cost them dear. They would do well to remember that the electorate know best!
I’m so glad UKIP didn’t win, it’s very sad and depressing that so many people are voting for that one-issue party. A lurch to extreme right-wing politics is not the answer. Racism, intolerance to others, discrimination, homophobia and ignorance have their home in this area. Please don’t give these people any more power especially at next years general election. Ask yourself this question…do you honestly believe a UKIP member of parliament would work on matters such as tax, NHS, police, justice, health & safety? I don’t think so, they are only interested in “pulling up the drawbridge” isolating the UK from Europe our biggest single market. My final message is to the 74% of people that didn’t bother voting, your apathy has caused these results.
