The Christmas Lights Switch On event on Friday, 20 November was billed as the biggest event of the year in Andover, and it didn’t disappoint.
This year was the busiest celebration yet, with a massive crowd filling the High Street from end to end to enjoy a packed programme of entertainment. Fabulous local performers including Jake Ward and Jayne Deer all gave their time and talent for free to support the community event, and singer John Springett had the crowd dancing and singing in the street to his set.

The whole event was compered by The Breeze, and the Big TV Screen – sponsored by Basepoint, made sure that no-one missed a moment of the festive fun. Stalls and traders including hot food, snacks and face painting supported the entertainment.
Skye Cohen was thrilled to be specially chosen to switch on the Christmas Lights, provided by Andover Town Council and the evening culminated in an amazing fireworks display from The Chantry Centre to make sure that Christmas started with a bang!
Test Valley Borough Council is proud to be able to bring this event to Andover each year, and Event Producer Heather Whittam said: “The weather was perfect, and the community came out in their thousands to support this special event. The Switch On is more than just the chance to party, it also helps to support local businesses and traders in and around the High Street and raises the profile of the town in a very positive way.”
