Blokey Does Brunch at Butters

May 31, 2014 by Andover Town

After hearing about waiting times at newly opened Butters, “Blokey Does Brunch“™ decided to investigate…and was very happy with the result.

Walking to the top of the High Street on Saturday morning, BDB entered the premises unannounced and proceeded to the counter area to order a drink. Money changed hands – a reasonable £1.20 for a Coke – and the Wi-Fi access code was given before BDB found a nice table to sit at.

Having only just sat down and set up the drink was duly delivered. By this time there were already several full tables. Quick service!

After dealing with the mountain of messages (okay, 2 Tweets and a Facebook post) BDB decided to order a bacon sandwich at a cost of £2.20 to include a side salad. Again money changed hands and the order was confirmed as placed.

Sitting down at the table BDB noticed that the venue had filled up quite a bit more and in fact was almost full up! A good sign for Butters but how would if effect my food order?

About 5 minutes later the question was answered with the arrival of the ordered bacon sandwich complete with side salad. Very impressive as by this point the place was very busy.

Unfortunately we only have 2 exclusive photos to show you…however as BDB was quite hungry it’s just an empty plate and glass.

BDB can report however that the bacon sandwich and side salad was very good with white bread with a lovely crust and very tasty bacon.

Butters source as much of their produce locally – one local family business supporting other local family businesses. They are also licensed and open from 9.00am to 11.00pm 7 days a week.

We don’t have any stars to give out but will be back again. Recommendation enough?

If you’d like “Blokey Does Brunch“™ to review your establishment then let us know. It’s a good excuse to get him out of the office and there’s no washing up for him to do either.

My experience was the complete opposite! I arrived Saturday morning and ordered a full English breakfast, the place was less than half full. It then became much busier and i witnessed people leaving as they had to wait so long. My breakfast eventually turned up after half an hour and I asked for a knife and fork. I was told that they were all on a unit against a wall behind me. I had to lean over someone who was eating his breakfast to get them. I started to eat my breakfast and found my beans, mushrooms and tomato were cold and my two eggs overcooked and hard. I left it as I couldn’t be bothered to wait for a replacement. I won’t be going back!
