Nathan Rossiter of collectables shop, Upcycled, has been presented with the first half of his £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant as part of Test Valley Borough Council’s commitment to supporting economic growth in the area.
Located at 76 High Street, Andover, Upcycled is a unique second-hand shop selling quality furniture and antiques and has been trading since April this year. Seeing an opportunity for his business and having a sound knowledge of Andover and the surrounding area, Nathan took the chance to open Upcycled to provide a new addition to the town centre.
On accepting the grant, Nathan said: “The Independent Retailer Grant was a great incentive to take the unit in Andover. I’m very familiar with the area and when I saw a gap in the market for such a specific product range I jumped at the chance. I’m delighted to be a new part of the community and I’m looking forward to building a strong relationship with the public and other businesses.”
Councillor Peter Giddings, Economic Portfolio Holder, added: “We’re extremely pleased to present Nathan with the Independent Retailer Grant as we believe his business will attract a range of new custom to the area. At Test Valley Borough Council we are committed to developing a competitive local economy and businesses such as Upcycled provide an ideal model for future companies to replicate.”
