The Roller Disco Returns for Half Term

February 5, 2014 by Andover Town

The popular Andover roller disco will be back for another spin this half term. The disco, which is held at Andover Leisure Centre, has been booked for Friday 21st February – with two sessions, one for families and one for just teenagers and adults.

The disco made its first return to the town last autumn after a break of some 25 years. But it was so well received, the organisers promised immediately to hold more.

“The return of the roller disco was very popular,” said Linda Arnold, sport and activity development manager at Andover for Valley Leisure.

“People were talking about it on Facebook and Twitter for months. It brought back some great memories.”

“But it isn’t just popular with people who remembered it from years ago, a new generation has already taken it to their heart. It’s a lot of fun, for all the ages.”

The family disco session will be from 3pm to 6.30pm. It will be followed by the adults and over 13s event from 7pm to 10.30pm. The adult session is slightly longer than before after customers asked for extra time.

On the day, there will be a light show and a DJ playing up-to-date songs and a special retro section.

Entry prices can include skate hire (£8 for children or £10 for adults) or people can bring their own and pay less (£6 for children and £8 for adults).

Parents who aren’t skating can come into the family event with their children for free. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be bought by phoning 01264 347100 or from the Andover Leisure Centre reception. Tickets bought in advance should be picked up before the night to avoid the queues.

Tickets can be bought on the night but the queues can be quite long. Only people with a ticket will be let in. Food and drink will be available.

See the Andover Roller Facebook page for more information.
