Employees in the Telesales team at healthcare provider Simplyhealth have taken part in a charity head shave to support a colleague who has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
All the money raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Matt Baker, Chris Pike, Dean Marriner, Nathan Anderson, Tom Brown and Ryan McKimm had their heads shaved at the Andover office on Monday 9 March 2015. The six individuals decided to take part in this activity after Reece Webster was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a rare cancer that grows in muscles in the body, in January 2015. Reece, who is currently going through chemotherapy, also had his head shaved.
Reece said: “The head shave was a fantastic example of the support I’ve received within Simplyhealth, especially in the Telesales team. It makes me feel so great that these guys have put themselves out to do something so uncomfortable and in solidarity for the complications I’m going through at the moment.”
“It also shows their commitment to a great cause as Macmillan Cancer Support has really helped with information and support throughout the various aspects of having cancer and getting to grips with its realities.”
The team has so far raised £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, including a £500 donation from Simplyhealth’s Andover Community Fund.
