Saying Thank You to our Nurses, Midwives and Therapists

January 22, 2015 by Andover Town

Patients and their relatives who want to show how much they value the exceptional nurses, midwives and therapy staff working at Hampshire Hospitals are invited to nominate them for a special award.

The Director of Nursing Awards (DONAs) celebrate the outstanding dedication, care and compassion that Hampshire Hospitals’ ward and community staff provide to patients.

Staff who deliver care at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital, as well as staff who deliver care at Alton and Bordon community hospitals and those who visit patients in their own home, are all eligible for the awards.

Nominations are welcome from patients, their families and other members of the public who want to show their appreciation and the winners will be selected by a panel of independent public representatives.

Chief Nurse Donna Green said: “I am delighted to launch the 10th annual Director of Nursing Awards. If you are a patient or a visitor who has experienced exceptional care in our hospitals or in the community by our staff, or if a member of our staff has made a difference to your life, then I encourage you to put forward a nomination. It means a lot to the staff that are nominated.”

This year, the awards ceremony will be held on July 13, at The Elvetham Hotel, in Hartley Witney.

Donna added: “These awards are specifically to thank our nursing, midwifery and therapy staff that work tirelessly to care for our patients. We don’t often get to celebrate our fantastic staff but this annual event is a highlight in our calendar and an opportunity to thank our staff. Last year we received over 250 nominations and everyone who is nominated is invited to enjoy the evening out at the awards ceremony. This year, I’d love to receive even more nominations because I know we have many more exceptional staff.”

Nominations can be made until the end of April with this nomination form or by completing a nomination form, available around the hospitals or by calling Karen O’Hanlon on 01256 313435 or emailing dona@hhft.nhs.uk.

There are two categories for nominations:

  • Individual nurse / midwife / therapist
  • Team award for nursing /midwifery / therapy teams
