Planning permission for Ocado’s new distribution centre was passed by the planning committee last night – and looks to bring more jobs than originally thought.
Work was due to start later this year for it to open in 2015 if it passed planning – which it did, unanimously.
Councilor Karen Hamilton said it was great news for the town:
“This was passed last night, full house vote for yes. They are also bringing 1,400 jobs which is welcoming to our town, it is great that they chose our town to have their 3rd major base.“
