A thriving Hampshire insurance business has won the regional round of the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards 2014.
Be Wiser Insurance’s talent programme, Be Wiser University for Insurance (BUFI), based in Andover, beat stiff competition to win the South Central regional round of the awards staged at the Great Hall in Winchester.
The company, which was started in Andover in 2007 and now employs 535 workers, is competing in the South Central Newcomer Large Employer of the Year (250+ employees) category.
“We are delighted to have come this far in such a renowned award scheme,” said Kelly Scanlan – Apprenticeships Programme Manager from BUFI. “It is a testimony to our team and all the hard work they put in every day that we are now through to the national judging. We hope we can inspire the rest of the insurance industry to take on apprentices and help improve the industry.”
“We think this vindicates our way of working and hope all our hard work pays off in November,” said Crescens George – Senior Assistant Director – Learning & Organisational Development added.
BUFI now goes through to a final national judging with the highest scoring apprenticeship employer entries nationally having the added honour of featuring in England’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list.
The national award winners will be revealed during an awards ceremony at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham on 13 November.
The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their eleventh year, celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship employers and are sponsored by BAE Systems, BT, City & Guilds, Learndirect, Nuclear Decommissioning Site Licence Companies and Unilever.
