Keep Updated with Hampshire’s Superfast Broadband Programme

August 28, 2014 by Andover Town

Hampshire’s Superfast Broadband Programme has launched a brand new twitter feed and website to ensure Hampshire residents can keep up to date with the roll-out of superfast broadband across the County.

The new website: www.hampshiresuperfastbroadband.com, features essential information for both businesses and residents on programme phases and developments, case studies from areas already reached by the programme, a price comparison tool and an innovative mapping solution.

The new map allows residents to instantly discover whether their postcode will be covered by commercially funded investment, or is part of the programme made possible by public funds from Hampshire councils and the Government. It also tells users when superfast broadband is likely to be available in their area as well as the number of residents who have registered an interest in that location.

In addition, Hampshire Superfast Broadband Programme is now on Twitter, where regular updates will be posted and residents can contact the team – follow them at @superfasthants

So far the Hampshire Superfast Broadband Programme has switched on, or ‘enabled’ 64 cabinets, providing over 15,000 homes and businesses with the chance to access superfast broadband services. These premises were missed by the commercial rollout and without investment from the County Council and other public bodies they would not have access to improved broadband services.

Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Roy Perry, said: “The new website and Twitter account will provide residents with up-to-date news and information about the broadband programme so they can keep track of when their area might be ‘switched on’ and the benefits that superfast broadband can bring.”

The county-wide rollout is a key part of Hampshire County Council’s long-term economic plan to secure Hampshire’s future by providing access to superfast broadband in areas that the private sector would not otherwise have reached. The programme aims to provide at least 95 per cent of all premises with access to superfast broadband by the end of 2017.
