On Saturday 11th July, Jonathan Marval will be running the ultimate challenge race and raising money for Andover and District Mencap at the same time.
Pushing himself to his limits, Jonathan will be running 62 miles (that is 100km) in his Race to the Stones in just one day! The race from Oxford to Avebury is well over twice the distance of a normal marathon.
Speaking to Jonathan he said “As for the reason for me doing the race. I suppose I wanted a challenge which would push me further and for longer than before, which meant running past the normal 26.2 miles of a marathon. The Race to the Stones ticked all these boxes while the route along the Ridgeway has great historical interest”.
“The reason for choosing Andover and District Mencap is simply because my sister is mentally handicapped and has been fantastically supported by the charity all her life. This is my way of saying thank you and to try to give something back which could help someone else in the future”.
Chris Dixon, CEO for the charity said “We are all in awe of Jonathan’s challenge! To undertake such a physical and mental undertaking is an inspiration! We are in Jonathan’s debt for choosing us as his chosen charity and the money raised will be used to continue to deliver services that ‘enable choice and independence’ to those with a learning disability. Thank You Jonathan”.
