The Green Party have selected Dan Hill from Andover as their candidate to fight the May 2015 General Election.
Born in Winchester, Dan has lived in Andover for the past 30 years attending Winton School and Cricklade (Andover) College and now works as a Master Data Manager for a legal information solutions company in their Walworth Business Park office.
“I think the time has come for the people of North West Hampshire to be represented in Parliament by someone standing up for their own community” he said.
“This has been my home for 30 years; I have been raised, educated and employed in this constituency. I’m delighted to have been selected as the Green Party candidate to offer voters the chance to make that happen.”
“The railway should be renationalised. To every passenger boarding at Grateley, Andover, Whitchurch or Overton it isn’t a competitive market; it’s a monopoly.”
“Bankers have a part to play. However, they have been left to grow too powerful; placing themselves as owners rather than servants of the economy. The Green Party would return them to their proper role.”
“Our welfare system needs a rethink. It brings about deplorable consequences for the vulnerable on one side and undesirable choices on the other. I want to see that changed so no-one is ever better off on benefits, it always pays to work and that everyone can make their contribution to society so that the stigma of receiving from the state can disappear.”
“In 2010, The British Public was told that five years of tightening the country’s purse strings would clear the deficit. It hasn’t even halved. The easier cuts have been made. Much harder cuts will follow if we allow it. There is an alternative and the Green Party can deliver it. We want to bring about a sustainable economic system so our public services are always dependable.”
Dan also added about the way his party is funded and help with the costs of running an election campaign.
“As The Green Party doesn’t have the same level of financial backing as the other parties, we are relying on local donations to help me stand as candidate. Therefore, we have created a crowd funder to help with campaign costs. By donating and sharing the page, you will help me spread the word across North West Hampshire that it doesn’t have to be politics as usual for another five years.”
“The crowd funder page is www.crowdfunder.co.uk/green-mps-for-winchester-nw-hants”
The local Green Party has organised a meet & greet session on 26th February between 19:00-21:00 at The White Hart Hotel, Andover.
