A summer Skate Jam will come to Andover’s urban sports facility on Smannell Road on Saturday, 15 August. The event will run from 12pm to 4pm and is supported by Test Valley Borough Council.
Specialist skate park developer, Maverick, will host the jam and entertain guests with impressive skating demonstrations and music from an MC. Skaters, bikers and scooter riders of all ages will be able to take part in the jam and show off their stunts for the chance to win great prizes.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Carr, said: “We have continued to work with Maverick after the urban sports facility opened last year and are delighted to welcome them back to host the skate jam. The facility has been incredibly successful and has seen a number of skaters, bikers and scooter riders enjoy using it together. The skate jam will be a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the facility under Maverick’s guidance and expertise.”
Members of the public can turn up on the day to watch or take part in the fun. Anyone who would like to take part is advised to wear appropriate protective clothing and helmets, and to be mindful of other users to ensure the event is an enjoyable and safe activity.
The urban sports facility opened in November 2014 and was funded by developer contributions and the Council’s new homes bonus reserve. For more information about the skate jam, contact Test Valley Borough Council on 01264 368000.
