The Environment Agency have issued further flood alerts for villages around Andover both St Mary Bourne and Weyhill sides of the town after the recent heavy rain.
There are currently two warnings in place covering this area:
- Groundwater flooding in Surrounding Villages of Andover (North West)
- Groundwater flooding in Vernham Deane, Upton and the Bourne Valley
Information for both alerts is as follows:
Groundwater Flooding in Surrounding Villages of Andover
Communities at risk of groundwater flooding to the North West of Andover, including Appleshaw, Hatherden, Penton Mewsey, Redenham, Weyhill Bottom, Kimtpon, Amport and Monxton.

The groundwater levels around Andover continue to rise. Cellar flooding has been reported in the area and is expected to become more widespread over the coming week in Appleshaw, Redenham, Kimpton, Penton Mewsey and Hatherden.
Groundwater is now above the level where some properties suffered from internal flooding in Appleshaw and Hatherden during 2000/2001 and so owners of vulnerable properties are advised to prepare for the prospect of internal flooding.
The forecast for the week remains unsettled with 65 to 100mm of rain expected which will cause groundwater levels to continue to rise. Over the coming weeks, high groundwater levels will continue to cause road and field flooding and affect sewerage systems in low lying areas.
Any significant rainfall will run off more rapidly than usual into already flooded areas as a result of the saturated conditions.
This Flood Alert will be updated on Wednesday 12th February 2014.
Groundwater Flooding in Vernham Deane, Upton and the Bourne Valley
Communities at risk of groundwater flooding in Vernham Deane, Upton and the Bourne Valley in North Hampshire including Hurstbourne Tarrant and St Mary Bourne.

The groundwater levels in the Bourne Valley have continued to rise in the last week. We are aware of some cellar flooding and road and field flooding at Upton and also problems with sewerage systems throughout the valley.
With a further 65 to 100mm of rain forecast over the next week, groundwater levels could rise high enough in the next week to cause internal flooding of vulnerable properties in Upton and cellar flooding at Vernham Dean.
Over the coming weeks, high groundwater levels will continue to cause road and field flooding and affect sewerage systems. The rainfall will run off more rapidly than usual into already flooded areas as a result of the saturated conditions.
The river through St Mary Bourne is high and rising and with the additional rainfall a Flood Alert may be issued for the impact of river flooding in the Bourne Valley.
This Flood Alert will be updated on Wednesday 12th February 2014.
