A former soldier who suffers from PTSD and has been helped by Veterans In Action and is still involved with the charity, was attacked on his way home near Floral Way last night.
The man was walking home from Andover last night (Tuesday) towards his new house on Burghclere Down with his shopping and as he got to just below the first roundabout at Floral Way he decided to walk through an alley as a short cut to his house.
As he walked through the alley two young males (no older than 20 years old) walked towards him and asked if he had any ice cream in his bags of shopping to which he replied no. As he passed them he was jumped on from behind and pushed to the floor smashing his face on the ground.
They then kicked him before they ran off, possibly as the result of another local coming out.
Billy McLeod for Veterans in Action said “If anyone knows who these scum bags are then please get in touch and I will get it reported to the police. This is a veteran who has struggled from PTSD for a long time and moved to Andover to be closer to VIA to continue getting help.”
“He has recently got a new job after a long time unemployed due to his illness and moved into his new house, please share this and if you know who these scum are then help get them caught before they do it to someone else.”
