The Environment Agency have issued flood alerts for villages around Andover as the rain continues to fall in the area.
There are currently two warnings in place covering this area:
- Groundwater flooding in Surrounding Villages of Andover
- Groundwater flooding in Vernham Deane, Upton and the Bourne Valley
Information for both alerts is as follows:
Groundwater Flooding in Surrounding Villages of Andover
Communities at risk of groundwater flooding to the north east of Andover, including Appleshaw, Hatherden, Penton Mewsey, Redenham, Weyhill Bottom, Kimtpon, Amport and Monxton.

Please note incorrect title of this alert, which is for Surrounding Villages of Andover. Communities at risk of groundwater flooding to the North West of Andover, including Appleshaw, Hatherden, Penton Mewsey, Redenham, Weyhill Bottom, Kimpton, Amport and Monxton.
Following exceptionally heavy rainfall over the last few weeks, the groundwater levels around Andover continue to rise. Given the current rate of rise, cellar flooding is possible at Appleshaw.
Any valuables stored in cellars should therefore be moved in advance. High groundwater levels may also lead to road flooding and begin to affect sewerage systems.
The Flood Alert was updated at 12:29 on 15th January, and will be updated again on Wednesday 22nd January 2014.
