The Environment Agency have issued flood alerts for villages around Andover despite the dryer weather today, as the rain continues to fall in the area.
There are currently two warnings in place covering this area:
- Groundwater flooding in Surrounding Villages of Andover (North West)
- Groundwater flooding in Vernham Deane, Upton and the Bourne Valley
Information for both alerts is as follows:
Groundwater Flooding in Surrounding Villages of Andover
Communities at risk of groundwater flooding to the North West of Andover, including Appleshaw, Hatherden, Penton Mewsey, Redenham, Weyhill Bottom, Kimtpon, Amport and Monxton.

The groundwater levels around Andover continue to rise. Cellar flooding is possible in vulnerable properties in Appleshaw, Kimpton and Hatherden. Any valuables stored in cellars should therefore be moved in advance.
If groundwater levels continue to rise at the current rate, residents of properties that have previously flooded in Appleshaw should also prepare for the prospect of internal flooding. High groundwater levels may also lead to road flooding and begin to affect sewerage systems.

Groundwater Flooding in Vernham Deane, Upton and the Bourne Valley
Communities at risk of groundwater flooding in Vernham Deane, Upton and the Bourne Valley in North Hampshire including Hurstbourne Tarrant and St Mary Bourne.

The groundwater levels in the Bourne Valley are continuing to rise although the rate of rise has slowed since last week. The River Swift is currently rising just to the east of Upton. Cellar flooding is possible in Upton.
Any valuables stored in cellars should therefore be moved in advance. High groundwater levels may also lead to road flooding and begin to affect sewerage systems.
