Saturday 10th May sees social media being social as the “I Grew Up in Andover” Facebook group hold a Disco and BBQ to put faces to names and raise funds for a local young lady.
The group, which has over 4,200 members, is aiming to raise funds to help Stacie Stroud who suffers with cerebral palsy and give its members a chance to meet up.
The disco and BBQ will be held at the Swallow Pub on Pilgrims Way and include an auction.
One of the organisers, Martyn Rhodes, said “It should be a good night and help a lovely young local lady. We have some great auction items but are still looking for more if there are any companies or people willing to donate.”
The group was started almost two years ago by Sarah McGuire Brown and Vik Pullman and expanded with Donna Duncombe and Martyn Rhodes helping out with admin. It now has members all over the UK and the world as people who have lived in the town meet up online, swap news and reminisce.
Tickets will be £6 each and are currently being printed and hopefully ready this weekend from Sarah, Donna via Facebook or you will be able to buy at the Swallow.
