Enham Trust Takes to the Skies

October 7, 2014 by Andover Town

Most of us have had the pleasure of seeing bi-planes as they form shapes and acrobatics across the sky, but few of us have had the opportunity to be strapped to the top and flown through the sky at speeds of up to 130mph.

It’s certainly not for the faint hearted.

Team Enham (CEO Peta Wilkinson, Receptionist Pauline Bisson, Care staff Dean Cleary, and Stannah team member Emma Holland) all eagerly signed up for the challenge to do just that, and set off one Saturday in September to enjoy this experience of a lifetime and raise money for the north Hampshire disability charity, Enham Trust.

Enham Trust - Wing Walker

Perfect weather greeted the four nervous, and excited fundraisers as they travelled from Enham Alamein to Essex and the smiles continued as they followed the health & safety training, donned their aerial jumpsuits and took to the skies atop the Aerobatic Tactics Stearman biplane.

After the experience, Peta Wilkinson said “This was an inspirational and life affirming experience which is characteristic of my experiences at Enham. I want to inspire more people to engage with us on our journey to support more disabled people to live their dreams and increase their independence. It’s the power of yes in practice!”

Team Enham have raised over £4850 with donations still coming in, this will make a huge difference to the people they support, facing their own challenges every day.

Enham Trust enables disabled people to see the possibilities in life, helping them to gain life skills, to live life independently and to choose how they live their lives.

If you are an adrenaline seeker looking for your next challenge, why not take to the sky with Enham Trust’s Zip Wire challenge on 25th October. For more details please contact Enham Fundraising on 01264 345817, make your next challenge count!
