Do you remember the Encounters Shop that popped up in Andover High Street over the summer? More than a thousand people dropped in across five weeks to share their memories, thoughts, and aspirations for the future of Andover.
All the information and ideas that were gathered have now been collated and evaluated. They will be presented, along with recommendations, at an open meeting on Wednesday, 12 November at 6.30pm at The Lights.
The interactive displays from the Encounters Shop will be on show and there will be a performance of the Andover Story, scripted from contributions made by visitors to the shop.
Ruth Ben-Tovim from Encounters Arts will be presenting the outcome of the material gathered. Ruth said: “The Andover shop was just the beginning of an inspiring and exciting journey which has seen the people of Andover and local villages engage and participate in how the future of the town could be shaped.”
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Ian Carr, said: “The Encounters Project presented an inspiring and creative opportunity for residents to have a voice about the place in which they live. The people of Andover responded magnificently, filling the shop with positivity, pride and a whole range of memories and ideas for the future.”
“The aim of the project is to enhance the environment in which we live and work and supports the work of the Andover Summit initiative by feeding into the Town Centre Environment Group that is developing the future vision for the High Street.”
