Andover’s Craig Spicer is aiming to be a British and European Title holder when he competes at European Power Lifting Championships in Belfast next month – and is looking for sponsors to help.
In 2011 at just 26 years of age, Craig was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma (Cancer) and went through 6 months of Chemotherapy.

Having been in remission for 3 years he was able to take part in the BDFPA (British Drug Free Powerlifting Association )British Championships and win the 56kg category and subsequently qualified for the European Championships in Belfast on 10th May 2014.
Craig said “This is going to cost a minimum of £500 just for flights and accommodation, not including any other transport and nutritional requirements so any sponsorship I may be able to acquire could be the difference in competing and not.“
“Carrying on the progress of the last 12 months I am on track to break some if not all of the British and European records for my category as well.”
The records Craig has in his sights are:
- Squat – British 130kg / Euro 135kg
- Bench – British 103kg / Euro 103kg
- Deadlift – British 165kg / Euro 185kg
“I am currently at 105kg, 85kg and 145kg respectively for the 3 lifts and I am aiming to break all of the British and European Full Power Records at my weight category“.
