Test Valley Borough Council’s successful pop-up shop scheme has seen one of its first tenants secure a six month lease at Waterloo Court and receive an Independent Retailer Grant worth £1,000.
Jane Fowler, owner of Charlie’s craft and furniture shop, was the first retailer to trial the Council’s temporary pop-up shop scheme when it launched in August 2014. The company’s recent progression to a unit at Waterloo Court meant that Jane was eligible to apply for the Council’s Independent Retailer Grant.
Economic Portfolio Holder, Councillor Peter Giddings, added: “It’s great to see Charlie’s progress from a pop-up shop to a more permanent unit in such a short space of time.”
“The Independent Retailer Grant is accompanied by a package of practical measures to help new retailers with many aspects of launching a new business. I am confident that Charlie’s will continue to be an asset to Andover town centre.”
