The Upper Guildhall is currently closed for refurbishment until next month as work is done both inside and out. Villagio’s Restaurant downstairs is still open and not affected.
Work to be done on the Grade 2 listed building dating back from 1825 includes:
- Internal redecoration of the entrance hall, stairs, landing & Mayors parlour
- Work to upgrade fire doors
- Toilets & kitchen being refurbished
- A total of 17 windows painted & re-glazed
- Work to rectify damp
Kier Ltd are doing the work and due to be finished by the 24th of February. In the meantime Council meeting’s will be held in the Rendezvous Centre in Union Street and also at the TVBC offices at Beech Hurst.
The upper Guildhall is available for the public to rent for wedding’s private party’s or public meetings. For details on hiring it please go to the TVBC website.
