Members of the Andover Green Party were outside Andover Train Station to campaign for the renationalisation of the railway recently.
The nationwide event, co-ordinated by Action For Rail wants to see a railway that puts people before profit.
Local Green Party members were at the station between 5.00pm and 7.00pm handing out postcards prompting rail users and passers by to take action and send it to their MP.
Andover Greens Co-Ordinator Dean Marriner said “Given that our former MP was the man who, 20 years ago, privatised Railtrack as Conservative transport secretary, I think it is very fitting that we are talking to local residents using Andover Station.”
“The current government’s strategy for rail is a direct attack on the services we rely on and the staff that deliver them. I think it will lead to more inefficiency. Also, money will be taken from investment and ploughed into dividends for private train operators.”
