An Andover couple celebrated their “Greatest Day” yesterday (Saturday 12th September) with a surprise appearance from Take That’s Gary Barlow.
Natalie and Martin Purkis had been campaigning on Twitter for months after singer songwriter Gary announced in January he would sing at three weddings this year.
Using the hashtag #GetGaryToThePurkisWedding friends, relatives and even random people on Twitter wished them well and retweeted their messages.
After the wedding, which was Gary’s final one, he Tweeted:
“Well that completes my wedding appearances for 2015 ! Thank you to everyone who invited me to their special day !”
“What started out as just a bit of fun turned into something much more meaningful and amazing.”
“The incredible display of friendship and kindness showed by everyone involved was inspiring.”
“I’ll look back fondly at 2015 as the year of the Wedding crasher !”
Natalie said “When he did his 5th wedding I thought our chances were over as he had announced he had only chosen 5. So when he appeared I was gobsmacked! This topped off our wedding day perfectly and I can never thank my husband enough for arranging this with Gary and keeping it secret from me for 9 months!”
