Starring in an advert for Sky, one of the biggest telecommunications names in the country, would be a coup for any would-be actor.
The honour on this occasion goes to 17 year old Andover College Performing Arts student Sam Edwards who is one of the stars of the current Sky Movies advert. The ad is being aired until 3 May 2015 on mainstream channels, during primetime shows such as Coronation Street and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Take Away.
Although Sam has an agent who arranged the audition with Sky, he credits his Performing Arts lecturers in helping him secure the role, commenting: “The lecturers here have been invaluable in helping me prepare for my auditions and the course itself is great in preparing me for the life as a professional actor.”
Initially Sam was auditioned with other members of his family as Sky wanted the advert cast to be as genuine and natural as possible. Only Sam and his step mother made it to the final cut though and can be seen in the advert.
When not gracing television screens Sam is a first year Level 3 Performing Arts student.
The course is ideal for anyone with a passion for performing arts and focused on a career within the industry. Following completion of this course his plan is to progress to drama school and he is currently looking at Guildford School of Acting, Rose Bruford College and Bournemouth School of Acting.
