If it’s Shrove Tuesday then it must be the annual Pancake day Race in Andover and this year it attracted a record number of teams hosted by the Andover Carnival Team and supported by the Breeze radio station
The race was a chance for local businesses to show off their pancake tossing skills as they negotiated the course (okay, straight line) from the Newbury Building Society to Millets and back.

There was also a good turnout as spectators lined the edge of the track and cheered their favourite team on – or just cheered, especially when Winston, the Andover Carnival mascot, tried a practice run.
Each of the teams consisted of 4 members and there was some fierce but friendly rivalry with some very close races during the 4 heats and 2 semi-finals before the final itself.

A very close finish saw the team from Sainsbury just edging out the team from Valley Leisure into second and the Breeze team getting third.
Money raised from the event goes to the two carnival charities that have been selected for this year.

This was a real treat today, guys – really cheered me up when I was clunking home from Asda… Love to all. x
