Last month, Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Janet Whiteley, picked the winner of a competition for a two night stay at Best Western Chilworth Manor.
Marie Clement from Hanwell in London scooped the prize, which featured in Test Valley Borough Council’s Test Valley Visitor Guide 2013, and also includes dinner and bed and breakfast at the hotel. Marie visited Test Valley for the first time during February half-term and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. She plans to take up her prize in the spring.
Councillor Mr Peter Giddings, economic portfolio holder, said “We cannot thank Best Western Chilworth Manor enough for helping to promote tourism in the area and providing this tremendous prize. Tourism is very important and equates to one in 10 jobs in Test Valley. The area attracts almost 200,000 overnight visits and 3.5 million day visits per year, and it is important we continue to promote this lovely part of the country. We are now looking forward to the all-new Visitor Guide 2014!”
Best Western General Manager Stephen Marriott of Best Western Chilworth Manor, said: “For those of us who are fortunate enough to live and work in the beautiful Test Valley region, we can sometimes take for granted the wonders it has to offer. We were delighted to help promote the region by offering an overnight break as a prize and we hope the lucky winner will enjoy their stay.”
Test Valley Borough Council produces an annual visitor guide to promote the local countryside, attractions, hotels and B&Bs in the area. The 2014 guide is due to be released in January.
