In conjunction with Penton Mewsey Parish Council the Weyhill Fairground Country Fair takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May 2014.
With free entry to this super community event there’s something fun for all the family – whatever the weather; farm animals, pets, craft demonstrations, live music, Wall’s Funfair rides and a whole lot more!
You’ll see rare breed sheep from David Sullivan, courtesy of the Fairground’s very own Beaker Button (beakerbutton.co.uk) who’ll also show you how to spin it into yarn on their traditional spinning wheels.
Edinburgh Wool will be showcasing their new, exclusive Spring/Summer Collection with a fabulous catwalk fashion show too. The Fairground’s Busy Hands Studio (busyhands.co.uk) is generously providing free paper craft activities for the children and with facepainting and candy floss there’ll be plenty to keep them all busy.
One of the local charities the Craft Centre is supporting is Hampshire Greyhound Rescue (hantsgreyrescue.co.uk). The Weyhill Fairground will be working with them will hold a fun dog show on the Sunday afternoon to raise vitally needed funds to provide a haven for those unfortunate greyhounds who slip through the safety net after their racing careers are over.
Ten fun classes will be held throughout the afternoon including prettiest pooch, dog with the ‘waggiest’ tail and best young handler, with rosettes for first, second and third places in each class sponsored by Phil Evans Photography. Enter your dog for just £1 per class with all proceeds donated to Hampshire Greyhound Rescue.
The Village Hall will be filled with local crafts and outside gazebos will host more craft demonstrations as well as the best of the areas local plants and produce. Andover’s Stringbrokers Music (stringbrokers.com) will also be supporting the event, bringing you live music from young, talented local musicians to complete the relaxed country atmosphere.
It promises to be a spectacular weekend – there’ll be more details about the activities, music and stalls to come over the next few weeks – so watch this space.
