Smannell Road, Andover – Carriageway Resurfacing – Operation Resilience
As part of Operation Resilience, Hampshire County Council’s programme to make Hampshire’s roads more resilient to the effects of extreme weather and heavy traffic, we will be undertaking carriageway resurfacing works on Smannell Road from A343 Newbury Road to Cricketers Way.
The works are programmed to start 17 February 2014 and are expected to last for 1 week, during which time the road will be closed to through traffic from approximately 07:30 on Monday. Due to the deep excavation required, the road will not be open during evenings but will be re-opened before the weekend.
Please note these timescales are weather dependant. Any changes to the scheduled date will be made clear on the yellow sign boards where the work is taking place, and onhttp://www3.hants.gov.uk/transport.
You can also call 0845 603 5633 to check when work is being carried out.
Every effort will be made by our contractor Amey, to allow vehicular access to and from your property. Due to the nature of the work we cannot guarantee vehicular access to your property at all times and long delays may be experienced. However, pedestrian access will always be available. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
The surfacing operation uses hot bituminous materials, which can take up to one hour to cool after they are laid. The new material is also very sticky while hot and can easily be walked into carpets and flooring. Please be advised not to walk across the new road surface during the surfacing operation unless directed by a member of the workforce.
In order to complete the work as quickly as possible please ensure no vehicles are parked on the road on the days of the resurfacing.
I would like to thank you for your co-operation in this matter and should you have any queries regarding these works please call our contact centre on 0845 603 5633.
