One of the world’s best Big Band Jazz Orchestras teams up with two of the UK’s most talented vocalists to present the spectacular concert: ‘Sinatra, Sequins & Swing – The Capitol Years Live!’
The only UK show with live singers the President of Sinatra Music Society recommends fans see pays a visit to The Lights Theatre in Andover on 25th November.
World renowned band leader Pete Long (Ronnie Scott’s Big Band / Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra), conducts and performs with some of the best musicians in the business. While the two vocal stars – front man Kevin Fitzsimmons (voice of Sinatra in a TV advert with Hollywood movie-star Naomi Watts) and female vocalist Kitty La Roar – deliver a stunning performance with a level of authenticity that’s second to none.
The quality and charisma of the two lead vocalists has consistently mesmerised audiences worldwide, while the impact of Pete Long’s 8 piece Big Swing Band (with star soloists from Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra & BBC Big Band) hypnotises both newcomers and even most avid fans of the era.
The show focuses on Sinatra’s golden years at Capitol Records, celebrating 30+ iconic songs from 1953-61, most notably those arranged by superstars of the era Nelson Riddle and Billy May.
“Sinatra, Sequins & Swing” also recreates famous scenes from Sinatra’s TV and film appearances such as the ‘One For My Baby’ bar scene; the ‘Lady Is A Tramp’ nightclub scene from film ‘Pal Joey’, the ‘You’re Sensational’ scene from film High Society with Grace Kelly; and Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend’ scene from film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Expect plenty of laughs as well as some big hits of ‘Capitol’ luminaries Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald and Bobby Darin in between.
Ken Barnes, the President of Sinatra Music Society says in his review of show in Perfectly Frank Magazine “While it’s good – in this centenary year – to see so many Sinatra tribute shows up and down the country, most of them, I regret to say, are pretty poor.”
“But one shining exception is Kevin Fitzsimmons, a singer with a naturally fine baritone voice, flawlessly performed in a way that would please any Sinatra purist. Kevin has focussed the show on Sinatra’s golden period with the Capitol label concentrating on the sensational orchestrations of Nelson Riddle and Billy May.”
“He is accompanied by a terrific Big Band, and sexy blond Kitty La Roar who proved to be an excellent musical partner in recalling such classic films of the period. Be sure to see it…you won’t find a better evening’s entertainment anywhere.”
