Local residents are invited to put their cake making skills to the test, for the chance to be crowned the winner of the Great Arbory Bake Off 2014.
Arbory residential home, based on London Road in Andover, provides personalised care and support for those with dementia and other associated mental health needs. Inspired by the popular BBC television programme, and with many residents keen bakers, Arbory decided to launch its own ‘bake off’ last summer.
This year the competition will form part of a family fun day being held at Arbory on 30 August from 2-6pm. Cash prizes will up for grabs for the winning cakes, as well as live music, a barbecue and fun and games for children.
“We’re really looking forward to the fun day and seeing all the entries. The standard of cakes is always very high, with lots of creative designs,” said Iain Slack, Arbory manager.
“Baking is very popular with our residents and our weekly cake decorating activity sessions are always well attended. We are also very lucky to have such a talented in-house catering team with a flair for cake baking, who provide residents with delicious treats on a daily basis. But don’t worry, they can’t enter!”
