Police are appealing for information after a 60-year-old man was found in an alleyway near to the Chestnut Tree Pub in Andover with serious head injuries on Thursday 25th September.
It is believed the man, who is from Andover, had been drinking in the pub during the day and had fallen and bumped his head.
He left to make his way home at about 9.30pm and was then found by a member of the public at about 10pm lying in the alleyway in Gallagher’s Mead estate.
He was taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service and is currently being treated at Southampton General Hospital and is in a life-threatening condition.
Detective Constable Ben Lee said: “We are trying to piece together this man’s last movements. Did you see him in the pub on Thursday, September 25? Did you see him fall and hit his head? Did you see him after he left the pub?”
“We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the Weyhill Road area of Andover from about 9.30pm and who may have seen something unusual or suspicious.”
“There may be a very innocent explanation as to how this man sustained these injuries, but equally, he may have been assaulted. If you have any information which could assist this investigation, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Lee at Basingstoke CID on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
