Hampshire Police Officers have issued advice to homeowners after a recent burglary in Andover.
Offenders broke into a house in the Pitts Lane area by forcing open a set of French windows, sometime between 7.30pm and 11.10pm on Saturday, November 14.
An untidy search of the house was made but it is not clear at this time whether anything was stolen and the occupants were not at home at the time of the burglary.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Kate Towerton at Basingstoke CID on 101, or alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
Protecting your home
Inspector Paul Markham, from Andover police station, said: “Thankfully burglaries like this are rare in this area, and we are doing all we can to make sure Andover is a hostile place for burglars.”
“However, there are some simple steps that homeowners can take to help protect their property.”
- Leaving a light on while you are out to make the home looks occupied
- Using timer switches to turn on lights during dark evenings before you return from work
- If going away on holiday, make the house look occupied by cancelling milk and newspaper deliveries, getting a neighbour to collect your post and using timer switches to turn on lights in the evening
