The winner of the 2015 Oscar for the Best Film in a Foreign Language IDA (12a) is showing this week at Stockbridge Town Hall at 7:30pm on Wednesday 25th February.
A Polish film with English subtitles, it tells the story of Anna, an orphan brought up by nuns who is now a novice in the convent.
Before she takes her final vows she is instructed by her Superior to go to see Wanda, her only living relative. Wanda tells Anna that Anna is Jewish. For both women this is the beginning of a journey not only to find their tragic family story, but to discover who they really are and where they belong. In the process they find themselves questioning everything they believe in.
