The Andover Town Centre Partnership (ATCP) are pleased to announce the introduction of body cameras, which are being trialled by security staff within the town centre.
The cameras will be worn by staff from Corsair Security, who currently carry out a number of contracts in Andover including the security for Breakers on Bridge Street.
Although crime and anti-social behaviour during the evening is already very low in the town, the cameras will record any incidents experienced by the qualified security staff and are aimed at providing both a further deterrent for any trouble – or the ability to capture evidence of any problems.
This initiative is being trialled by Corsair in conjunction with the Town Centre Partnership and will be continued if considered a success.
Town Centre Manager, Chris Gregory, said “We are planning a number of improvements to the prevention of crime in Andover in order to ensure that our town remains very safe and this is an example of us working with a local partner towards this goal”
Steve Badby from Corsair said “We know from our work in Andover that crime is low, although that should not give us room for complacency and so we are proud to be able to introduce what we feel will be a very valuable tool in keeping the town an extremely safe place to visit.”
