Saturday 1st August saw the new Lockrite Allstars Netball Team clean up with a charity car wash at Andover Fire Station.
With help from Mayor Iris Andersen and Councillor John Cockaday, the team had a well organised production line going with an initial rinse supplied by one of the fire-fighters followed by a hand wash and final rinse.
The event was organised to help raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity and help promote the new team.
“We are up to 13 members now” said Paula “with five of them being new members.”
“We need 7 – 9 players per team so ideally we would like to get 18 together so we can put two teams into the leagues“.
To help out, the Mayor donned a very colourful parrot suit to help the ladies get drivers in and help raise money as well as taking a stint at washing and rinsing the cars off.
“I think it’s great what they are doing” she said.
“It’s another fun event helping to raise money for a good cause and doing something in the local community.”
The team start their campaign in the new season in September and are currently training at Winton School between 7.30pm and 9.00pm on Monday evenings.
The car wash is on till 4.00pm today (Saturday 1st August) otherwise if you would like to join the team you can contact Paula by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
