The Andover Roller Disco displayed itself in all its neon glory at the Andover Leisure Centre last weekend when 300 people came to dance and skate, many of them wearing florescent colours that could possibly be seen in Space.
The disco was reunited with its 1980s roots by a neon theme that was fully embraced by children and parents.
They came, dressed to dazzle, wearing a range of Jane Fonda inspired headbands, wristbands, crop tops and tutus. And many, many more wore the classic legwarmers.
“It was a very popular theme – as is the roller disco itself,” said Linda Arnold from Valley Leisure.
“Customers were queuing along the front of the building waiting for the sessions to open, and they gave us such fantastic feedback.”
“Some people can’t believe they’re doing the same things with their kids that they used enjoy so much themselves as children.”
“It’s great to see.”
This was the third roller disco since it was resurrected late last year by former fans and the leisure centre after an absence of some 25 years.
To cater for everyone, the event has two sessions each time – one for families and one for adults and older teens.
More will be held later on in the year. More information on the dates will be on the Andover Roller Facebook page and the Andover Leisure Centre web site or Twitter.
