Ward councillor for Andover Alamein, Councillor Phil North, has presented the Andover Me and My Dad Club with a £500 Councillor Community Grant.
The father and child club meets on Saturday mornings and encourages dads to spend quality time with their children by taking part in activities, arts and crafts and trips together. Since its launch in 2013, the club has organised a trip to Marwell, a zip wire challenge and numerous other activities and events.
Me and My Dad Club Chairman, Daniel Squire, plans to spend the money on new toys and equipment for the club. He said: “This grant provides much needed funds for the club which supports local dads to spend quality time with their children in a safe friendly environment. We would like to thank Councillor North and Test Valley Borough Council for their continued support.”
Councillor Phil North added: “I was delighted to present a cheque for £500 from the Alamein Ward Councillors Community Grant to this great local organisation. The club does so much to support families and promote the role of the father in bringing up their children.”
The Test Valley Borough Council Councillor Community Grant Scheme aims to encourage community led initiatives that play an active part in helping local communities deliver their ambitions and reach their full potential.
