7.00am yesterday (Tuesday 26th August) saw the start of Manuela’s last litter pick throughout the town before her birthday today.
Starting at a very wet Guildhall in Andover, the Attitude of Gratitude campaigner had two teams out and around the town filling rubbish bags before meeting back there at 8.00am.
On the route round it was clear that Manuela does not distinguish between “council” litter and “business” litter.
“Litter is litter to me” she said. “Tourists that come to see Andover don’t say oh that doesn’t matter as it’s not a certain type of litter. They just see litter.”
With the final pick over, the Andover campaigner wanted to offer a few thank yous.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to all the people that have been on litter picks with me over the past 6 years and also to the team that came to my final one this morning – Ian Carr, Graham Stallard, Kevin Paterson, Brian Page, Christine Mellor, Alison Paxton, Chris Gregory and thank you to Paul Scicluna for the photos.”
“There are people that were not able to be there today but deserve a mention too, including Tony Noakes, Nigel Terry, Ken Amin, Joe Scicluna, Angela Frith and Ken Dykes.”
Manuela will now be able to devote more of her time to schools demonstrating through presentations her philosophy of “Having an Attitude of Gratitude” to pupils of all age groups.
